WASHINGTON, D.C. - After receiving an overwhelming response from her National 2013/2014 “MAGIC” Tour Kick-off Concert and selling out dozens of shows across America including Los Angeles, New York City and Philadelphia, award-winning songstress Doreen Taylor has been honorably chosen to collaborate with the nation’s leading park advocacy organization, the nonprofit National Parks Conservation Association, on a song about national parks which she will be performing the world premiere at the Salute to the Parks Gala in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, April 9th.

Doreen Taylor’s song, “COLORS OF THE USA” is available to the public for download EXCLUSIVELY at www.colorsoftheusa.org beginning at 12:00am (Midnight) EST on Friday, April 11, 2014. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to NPCA to help advance their mission to protect our national parks. The official WORLD PREMIERE of the song will be performed at the SALUTE TO THE PARKS GALA in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20001). The event is invite-only and not open to the public.

“Colors of the USA” showcases Doreen’s talents as not only a vocalist, but as a songwriter and musician. Taylor has been known in the music industry as a “force to be reckoned with” for the raw, emotional vibe of her lyrics, stunning vocals and multiple abilities to engage an audience.

Dubbed by the Huffington Post as “an excellent performing artist to keep your eyes on,” Taylor’s collaboration with NPCA is an extra special honor for her because it supports an organization committed to protecting and enhancing our national parks.

“I am a huge supporter of the preservation of America, our history and of our National Parks so I am so excited to be writing and performing such a moving and inspirational tribute to support the work of NPCA as Americans prepare to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our national parks.

The National Parks Conservation Association’s (www.npca.org) mission is to protect and enhance America’s National Park System for present and future generations. NPCA is an independent, nonpartisan voice working to address major threats facing the National Park System. NPCA was established in 1919, just three years after the National Park Service. Stephen Mather, the first director of the Park Service, was one of their founders and felt strongly that the national parks would need an independent voice—outside the political system—to ensure these places remained unimpaired for future generations. Now, nearly one hundred years later, NPCA has more than 800,000 members and supporters. In addition to their LEED-certified national headquarters in Washington, D.C., NPCA has 24 regional and field offices around the country.

“Doreen’s incredible voice and her beautiful song have the power to connect people to America’s most glorious places, our national parks. We are grateful for her support to help protect our national parks for the future.” - Clark Bunting, President and CEO of the National Parks Conservation Association.

Doreen’s homegrown grassroots upbringing gave way to a sudden and remarkable career at an early age when her town, family, congregation and most importantly Doreen herself, realized the true power and strength of her voice. While some singers feel performing since childhood has burned them out or shown them the wrong side of the industry, she believes her young start has only made her stronger as a vocalist, songwriter and performer. With viral YouTube hits such as "Judgment Day" off her breakout, debut country/rock solo album "Magic," Doreen's music has been touted as a "blend of the late 80s to early 90s slow pace southern rock with a touch of the bad-ass girl music that is popular today" by All American Country Music! With a Masters in Opera Performance, Taylor has played numerous leading roles in various companies on and off Broadway and released three albums before taking the jump into country/rock music and wrote all the songs on the album "Magic" which garnered her the “2012 Suggested Artist of the Year” Award from the ‘Song of the Year’ international songwriting competition. Doreen's music videos, "Last call (for Alcohol)," "Heartbeat" and "Summertime" landed on the 'Top 100 Country Official Music Videos of the Week' chart at the same time! A proud supporter of numerous local and national charities, Doreen is committed to making a positive change in various communities and across the nation.
