Doreen Taylor Announces Special New York City Show

DOREEN TAYLOR STRIPPED: EVENING OF SONG AND STORIES RETURNS AWARD-WINNING COUNTRY-ROCK SONGSTRESS TO BROADWAY ROOTS

Sold-Out ‘Magic’ Tour Goes Unplugged In Heart of NY Theater District TUESDAY, Nov. 19 at Don’t Tell Mama

“An excellent performing artist to keep your eyes on”raves the Huffington Post

NEW YORK – Whether she’s kicking it out with a full-blown Vegas-style production or seizing the simplicity a small setting can offer, DOREEN TAYLOR knows how to make “Magic” on any stage.

For the New York City stop of her “Magic” tour, the sultry New Jersey songstress is trading in the splash and dazzle of her sold-out theater shows for something intimately special.

DOREEN TAYLOR: STRIPPED, an elegantly revealing evening of unplugged songs and stories from her breakout album, Magic, brings the award-winning recording artist to the heart of New York’s theater district Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Don’t Tell Mama, 343 W 46th Street (betw. 8th & 9th Aves.). Show time is 7 p.m. Seating begins 6:30 p.m. Tickets and reservations available NOW at www.donttellmamanyc.com or by calling 212.757.0788 daily after 4 p.m- Space is extremely limited!!

Magic, the album, showcases Doreen’s talents as not only a vocalist, but as a songwriter and musician. She prides herself on the raw, emotional vibe of her lyrics and abilities to engage an audience, and DOREEN TAYLOR: STRIPPED affords her the ultimate opportunity at a world-famous entertainment destination. Weaving acoustic renditions of songs from Magic with narration and story-telling about the making of the album and the woman who crafted it, the show is a rare look into the journey of a fiercely independent artist whose loyal fan base has pushed her social media following to more than 28,000 on Facebook and close to 12,000 on Twitter.

Backed by acoustic musicians in a subdued setting, DOREEN TAYLOR: STRIPPED offers Doreen’s unique fusion of soothing vocals, engaging and upbeat showmanship and homegrown country-rock roots in an understated homage to her Broadway roots.

"I am so excited to be able to come back to my musical roots doing my own music,” says Doreen. “This is what started it all for me – Broadway! It’s a rare opportunity to see me stripped down to what my music is all about- the beauty of the lyric and the vocals. I love touring with my big production show, ‘Doreen Taylor LIVE,’ but this acoustic, "cabaret-style" show highlights who I am as an artist in an intimate and emotional light."

To headline on a stage that once showcased such greats like Kristen Chenoweth, Cuba Gooding Jr., Rosie O'Donnell, Bette Midler, Liza Minnelli and Paul Newman is “the greatest thrill a performer could hope for,” Doreen adds. “What amazingly big shoes to fill. I can't wait to plant my stilettos in NYC!"

It’s not often that a country-rock singer-songwriter does a cabaret-style show off Broadway. DOREEN TAYLOR: STRIPPED is a true testament to Doreen’s ability as an artist to continually transcend musical boundaries. She does just that on Magic, which yielded the YouTube hit “Last Call (for Alcohol)” with country comfort and, as the Buffalo News points out, “is notable for the diversity of its content. Taylor can do straight-up contemporary country but she is known to tackle standards like ‘Summertime’ and ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ with equal conviction.” The Huffington Post calls her “an excellent performing artist to keep your eyes on,”

Doreen’s hometown upbringing gave way to a sudden and remarkable career at an early age when her town, family, congregation and most importantly Doreen herself, realized the true power and strength of her voice. While some singers feel performing since childhood has burned them out or shown them the wrong side of the industry, she believes her young start has only made her stronger as a vocalist, songwriter and performer. Doreen lays out all her emotions on stage to be transported into the hearts and ears of everyone in attendance. Showmanship has always been as important to her as the music behind it. And DOREEN TAYLOR: STRIPPED showcases another side in her evolution as an artist to be reckoned with.
